Using the latency checker that I found mentioned in a post on the Native Instrument's forum,I was able to pinpoint the problem to my WLAN device in the laptop. Eventually after playing with all the buffer settings etc without success I found the solution. I also bought a pretty much top of the range (Core™ i7-2670QM Processor) Toshiba Sattelite laptop running Winows 7 (64bit) so it was well capable of handling streaming audio. It's great piece of kit, however, I experienced real problems with intermittent audio drop-outs which kind of defeats the purpose.
I just purchased the Komplete Audio 6 from Native Instruments. I thought I would post this experience as it may help some other person with the same difficulties.
